We're pretty excited

Sorry we haven't updated for a while - other commitments such as uni, work, and being a useless layabout drummer have got in the way.

But we need to update now for a couple of reasons

First, we're heading back to Loud Noises to record a new EP in February. It will probably have 6 tracks on it, but details are a bit hazy. Never let it be said that we're haphazzard. We'll keep you posted with more details when we get them, and we'll no doubt be doing a little blog of our time on the farm.

Secondly, we're so excited about this one we may give birth to tiny excited babies. On March 9th we'll be supporting one of our absolute favourite bands in the world, Such Gold, as well as the amazing Starters and Maycomb at the Wagon and Horses in Birmingham. Tickets are £5 and you can click here to get more details.

Sg

Needless to say, this is the high point of our band so far, and we're so grateful to anyone who has supported us to this point.

I do solemnly swear that I'll keep this more up to date from now on

Much love

Nick

How we got our Blue Peter badge

Today we made some stencils, bought some spray paint, went outside and made ourselves some CD sleeves.

Here are the pictures:

Remember these are hand numbered, limited to 50 and will come with 2 exclusive PYW badges. On top of that, each of these is 100% unique, and let's be honest, they look real cool!

You'd be a fool not to head here and pre order

We'll have these ready to ship on Monday

Much loves

Pre-order, release date and details of our 4.72" package

Ok, so we now have the finished mixes back from our man Owen at Loud Noises so we can now announce a release date and more details.

The CD will be, imaginatively, titled 4.72" and will be released on Monday 16th August on hand numbered vinyl-cd limited to 50 copies. The CDs will come in a card wallet and will have the artwork spray painted on by our very own hands. We'll post a few pics of what is sure to be a laughable day of "crafts" when we put together the packages.

We're also going to include 2 badges with each package that mirror the album artwork. These will be exclusive to the CD package and are limited to 50 per design.

Here is all of the artwork for the record:

and badges:

These will look more impressive in real life, I'm sure of that!

The package will cost £3 and will be available online and from us at gigs. However, as avid fans of PYW you can pre-order the package right here at our big cartel store

The digital release of the record will co incide with the CD release, and will be a "pay what you want" download.

That's all for now! Take care

Nick

We're releasing a 12cm

So if you follow us on Twitter or Facebook, you'll probably know that we've just recorded 2 new songs at Loud Noises recording studios.

Now, if we had enough money and fans we'd love to put these out on some sort of delicious vinyl 7", but alas right now we don't have enough of either. So we're going for something else that hopefully will be nearly as cool.

We're going to put out a limited Vinyl CD 12cm (or 4.72" if you prefer) and these are the details of the package:

  • A Vinyl CD with the music on, obviously
  • A sleeve with artwork that will be hand screen printed by us
  • Each Vinyl CD and sleeve will be hand numbered and will contain hand written tracklisting
  • Limted edition of 50
  • PYW Badges/Stickers

To celebrate the release we will be running a competition to give away 5 of these packages. We'll announce details on this when we get closer to the release date.

We've only just decided on this, so more details (such as price) will come soon, and we'll be blogging our production process as we go. This is likely to include our laughable attempts at screen printing.

As always we'll still be putting a digital version of the record for everyone to download for free (or for whatever bit of money they fancy throwing at us), but we're hoping some people may want to own a cool physical product to go along with it.

So in short, keep an eye out.

DIY til we die (or someone offers to do it for us).

Back to the studio

We'll be heading back in to Loud Noises recording studios on July 25th to record 2 new songs.

They don't have names as yet, although one has the working title of "The clock in San Dimas is always running" (name that film?).

If you were at our show at the soundbar then you would have seen us play these songs live already, so hopefully you are looking forward to the recorded versions.

We'll keep you posted as to how we're going to release these recordings, rest assured the digital versions will be free, but we are considering doing some sort of physical release too.

That's all for now! Keep in touch

Nick

Brooklyn Underground

A couple of days ago, John from Brooklyn Underground got in touch asking if he could put our music up on his site. We of course said yes, we love spreading the love.

Brooklyn Underground is a New York punk-zine intending to bring together the Brooklyn scene by putting on shows, helping out bands, and sharing music. It's a brilliant thing that John is doing over there, and we feel genuinely honoured that he wanted to share our music, despite us being from far far away! As John puts it himself

Pick Your Weapon isn't from Brooklyn, they're not from New York, they're not even from this country.  They're so good I couldn't not post up this album here.

Very kind words, and it really makes us feel like what we're doing is worthwhile. Some bands will put a quote from a local radio DJ, or some random celebrity on their MySpace, usually saying something lke "great" or "nice tunes", but for us it means so much more that someone who obviously cares about music and is active in a scene wants to promote us like this.

You can read the rest of the article over here and whilst you're there be sure to check out what else John has been doing and some of the awesome bands he is helping. We hope to be doing an interview for the site soon, so we'll keep you posted on that.

If we ever get over to America, the first show we will play will be a Brooklyn Underground show. No doubt.

In the words of Staind...

... it's been a while

We haven't been very good at keeping this up to date. I say we, I mean me.

Since we last posted:

Those recordings we did? Yeah you can now have them for free.

We played our first gig at the Soundbar in Birmingham. It was fun but very nervewracking - we haven't played a show for nearly three years - but there was a great crowd and it was really well organised by the guys at Shoot The Stars. We think it went ok. Our hardcore fan (singular) Gav was singing along so it can't have been that bad. We've already started booking a few more shows so news on that soon.

We now have a full website. It's actually more of a hub that brings in all our stuff already on the net. Check it out over at PickYourWeapon.co.uk

We're hoping to book back in to Loud Noises again soon to record 2 new tracks that we debuted at the gig. We may release these in a pretty cool way, so keep em peeled.

Think that's all for now

Much love

Nick
